About
Our editorial approach
We publish less, and we live with it longer.
Independence
Every product, hotel, brand and destination featured on The Beauty Edit is chosen by our editors. We never accept payment for inclusion, and no brand sees a story before it is published. A gifted product is treated exactly as a purchased one: it earns its place or it is left out.
How we test
Skincare is used for a minimum of eight weeks, across seasons where possible, because skin does not answer in a week. Makeup and fragrance are worn in real days — meetings, heat, evenings — rather than swatched. Fashion is judged on cut, cloth and how a piece behaves after wearing. Travel is written only from places we have actually stayed in and walked through.
Reporting and expertise
Where a claim is clinical, we read the research and speak to dermatologists, formulators and founders. We prefer the plain explanation to the borrowed one, and we say when the evidence is thin.
Affiliate transparency
Some links in our stories and in Editor's Picks are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them — at no additional cost to you. Commission never influences what we feature, the order in which we feature it, or what we say about it.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we correct it in place and note the change. If you spot an error, write to us through the contact page.
The test we apply to every story: would we recommend this to a close friend, unpaid?
