Texture is the one form of richness that survives a minimalist brief, which is exactly why designers keep reaching for it.
The Shift
Fabric is moving from a technical decision to an expressive one. The same coat pattern cut in bouclé, in brushed wool or in crinkled leather produces three entirely different garments — and only one of them looks like everything else on the rail.

Heavier gauges in knitwear. Raw and slubbed silks in place of flat satin. Bouclé used in tailoring rather than only in jackets. Leather treated, crumpled or washed to remove its shine. And, notably, several textures worn together in a single tonal palette.
Why It Matters
